Autumn means harvest at Balfour. And whilst our team works incredibly hard to bring in this year’s crop, our minds also (inevitably) turn to the wonderful selection of seasonal produce also available at this time of year – and the wines we pair them with.

From root vegetables to spices and soups – now is a superb time of year to discover hearty rich dishes, as the country’s vegetable harvest comes in. Eat squashes and spice, with our Liberty’s Bacchus 2022 (the aromatic crisp quality of the wine pairs brilliantly with a peppery-kick). Or head to the coast for the season’s oysters and shellfish, with our exceptional unoaked Skye’s Chardonnay 2022.

Now is the perfect time of year to fire up the oven, and kick back with a superb Autumnal roast. Complement seasonal meats, like pork (paired with our exceptional Luke’s Pinot Noir 2022) and game (a brilliant pairing for our Sparkling Leslie’s Reserve Red), with this year’s apples and berries. Or go try a mushroom Wellington (also excellent with Pinot Noir) after this year’s huge fungus crop.

As the nights draw in, it’s the perfect time to light some candles and indulge in a post-dinner treat. From tempting cheeseboards (an excellent, if unusual, match for Nannette’s Rosé 2022) to richer sweet desserts (our go-to is always Leslie’s Gold), this is the season to treat yourself.
