The New Branding: A Nod to Balfour’s Architecture
Alongside the Sparkle for Every Scene campaign, we have recently rebranded the Leslie’s Non-Vintage collection, giving it a fresh and contemporary look that reflects the heart of Balfour Winery. The distinctive slanted label, set at an 11-degree angle, is a subtle homage to the unique architecture of our winery and home at Hush Heath Estate. This elegant new design mirrors the clean lines and modern aesthetic of our buildings, while still honouring the rich history and craftsmanship that goes into every bottle.
The updated branding aligns with our mission to make English sparkling wine both accessible and luxurious, inviting more people to discover and enjoy the refined quality of our wines. It also offers a stylish visual representation of the innovation and creativity that define Balfour Winery.
How Traditional Method Sparkling Wine is Made
At Balfour Winery, all of our sparkling wines, including the Leslie’s Non-Vintage collection, are crafted using the traditional method (Méthode Traditionnelle), the same process used to produce Champagne. This time-honoured technique involves a second fermentation in the bottle, which creates the wine’s signature bubbles. The wine then undergoes an extended period of maturation, during which the lees (dead yeast cells) contribute to the wine’s complexity, adding flavours of brioche and almond. The result is a refined and elegant sparkling wine, with finesse and depth that is characteristic of the highest-quality sparkling wines.
The traditional method ensures that our sparkling wines develop a fine mousse (bubble texture) and retain a balance of acidity and fruit, making them versatile wines that can be enjoyed on their own or paired with a variety of dishes.
Coming Soon: The Return of Leslie’s Sparkling Red
Exciting news for lovers of rare and unique wines—Leslie’s Sparkling Red is set to return this December! Crafted in extremely limited quantities, this bold and distinctive sparkling red is made using the traditional method and showcases the depth and richness of English wine. Perfect for the festive season, it offers aromas of dark berries and spice, with fine bubbles and a smooth finish that make it a wonderful companion for hearty winter dishes such as roast beef or venison.
Due to its popularity and limited production, Leslie’s Sparkling Red will be available in restricted amounts, so we recommend keeping an eye out for its release in December. This special wine is sure to sell out quickly, making it a must-have for any collector or lover of unique sparkling wines.
