Balfour Brut Rosé 2018

“Try drinking Balfour Brut Rosé in a wine glass instead of a flute. Wines that have complexity and depth benefit from being in a wine glass; it allows the wine to open up and release its aroma.”

Eighteen years ago, Balfour Winery produced 10,000 bottles of Balfour Brut Rosé, our first-ever wine. Fast forward to 2021, and we have released 25,000 bottles of our latest release, Balfour Brut Rosé 2018. Balfour Brut Rosé is the only wine we make every year, and this year is the 16th vintage of our iconic wine.

Every year on Hush Heath Estate is different, and we see those differences reflected in each vintage of our wines. The 2018 vintage was no exception. A perfect storm of warm and dry conditions at flowering, with a consistently temperate summer which carried through harvest, led to a crop load unheard of in England. It was a year when English wine came of age.

In 2022 we will be celebrating Balfour’s twentieth year, dating back from the warm, English spring of 2002 when the first vines were planted on Hush Heath Estate. Throughout the year, we will be releasing old vintages of Balfour Brut Rosé and hosting a variety of events, including a vertical tasting, giving guests the opportunity to experience the taste of previous vintages.
